NEW YEAR'S EVE/DAY

First priority is safety.

Today is far worse than yesterday. Roads are dangerous.

Since it is New Year's Eve, I imagine that people have plans. This does not dismiss New Year's Day.

Most everyone will be back home, the weather will be better, the roads will be clear and Coach Besser would likely be able to join us.

We're moving today's practice to 10 tomorrow at the school.

Understand that we only have two days to prepare for Northampton on Friday and that we will be severely shorthanded. Most people don't even know what they're doing on meet day. We will not get everything in on practice on Thursday, no matter what we do.

I can compromise and move practice to 12  Wednesday so you can get a little more rest, but you all will have to have a discussion amongst yourselves in your chat room or use some other method to determine this. I only want to hear from a team leader - I do not need 100 text messages telling me why or why not people can come.

Gabby seems to be the one person who communicates with me most efficiently, so I'll wait to hear from her if you want to change it to noon or some other time.

Let me know by this afternoon.

WEDNESDAY PRACTICE AND REST OF WEEK

Looks as though we will finally have an opportunity to practice tomorrow. We are two days behind schedule, but not to worry.

Please plan on being ready in the small gym by 2:10. I shall quickly take attendance and we shall go up to the library. Dress as if we are going to do some activity.

My intention is to go over the team rules, hand out paperwork as well as ensure that all of the new people are correctly signed on to trackcentral.

If you do not know what trackcentral is, that is fine. There is a link on this page at the top that can direct you to it, but until you receive a code to sign in you shall be unable to do so.

If we have time following our meeting, we shall return to the small gym and we shall introduce you to our new warm up. I shall try my best for us to be done by 4:15.

There shall be no parents meeting Wednesday night as there is a concert going on at the school We should try for Thursday 6:30 in either of the cafeterias.

This is a very busy week at the school, so please make good use of your time.

Thursday please arrive by 2:30 and we shall immediately get underway. This gives you time to secure extra help or anything else now you need to take care of.

We will be testing all of the new people, while those that are not assisting in the testing will be on the bikes in the weight room for a prescribed time.

It turns out Friday is senior semi. I do not expect the seniors to be at practice, therefore we will do activities as a group with all non-seniors.

Practice Saturday at 8 for everyone. We will start in the weight room.

Unfortunately, because we have lost so much time, we will have to practice on Sunday as well. But only after 1 p.m. per School regulations.

PRIMETIME

For those of you that attended the banquet, we spoke about one of the best ever athletes in ELHS history: PRIMETIME ( Jessica Schnepp).

To give you a background on her, she qualified for the States in the 100, long jump, triple jump, 4 x 100 relay as well as finally in the javelin (after suffering an injury in basketball).

Well here she is in all her splendor wearing the "throwback" whites!

For a refresher, she broke the school javelin record and was given hers at the banquet, now she has a daughter who already has something to work with when she gets a "few" years older!

She is a multiple time Western Mass. champion.

Jess went to UNH for Volleyball as she was the greatest player in school history and should be in the next Hall of Fame class...but she may have been the best overall athlete ever at EL.

END OF SEASON

Everyone be safe out there.

We will try to resume practices tomorrow for those of you advancing to the states.

In the meantime just stretch on your own and try to do some drills and core work. Shoveling snow is not a bad exercise either.

For those that failed to attend Monday's meeting, I covered banquet information for Mrs. Corcoran.

I also discussed the training regimen between seasons for those of you that will be advancing to the outdoor program.

Sports night is February 28th.

The schedule is up for spring as well as summer program on this site.

Good luck to all of those that are going to be competing this Sunday!
