This morning on Western Mass News, our own Steeplechaser, Lexi Oliver was at the desk. She is the second one from the right in the picture. This race was held in New York at the Kings Relays.
We were fortunate that we were permitted to go and run against some of the best teams in Metropolitan New York City. Lexi ( Kaleidoscope) recently got her degree from the University of Massachusetts after having to wait a year due to covid. She is currently a producer at Channel 40.
This is proof that once you leave us, you are never, ever gone! Everyone in this picture has gone on to bigger and better things once they left ( as have many many others not pictured).
Your workout for today...be cautious of the slippery roads out there. We are putting together an indoor workout that you can utilize after doing your usual warm-up exercises.
Enjoy your day off, but work off some of that new found "Christmas Cheer"!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A MASK WHILE COMPETING AND WHEN IN THE BUILDING AS WELL AS ON THE BUS!
Suggest that you have a sandwich to snack on for tomorrow...or something. We have early dismissal at 1:30. Bus will pick us up by the track at 1:45. BE ON TIME!
Have your own water bottle filled ( nothing else is allowed on Wheaton campus/track).
Bring spikes, but only those in 55 hurdles, high jump and long jump can use them for THOSE SPECIFIC EVENTS.
We went over protocols yesterday, but I might offer a reminder on the bus going done to insure that we do not violate their house policy...remember we are GUESTS of Wheaton. NO exploring. Also, do not go anywhere ( bathroom, etc.) alone.
For so many of you this is your first real experience Indoors. Do your best. We should be getting back somewhere between 8:30 and 9:00. Traffic could be heavy. When we get close, we shall encourage you to call your parents for rides. Try to have them there when we arrive. I do not know if the school shall be open or not.

BIGGEST GROUP WE EVER HAD AT THE CLINIC, MANY WENT ON FURTHER
Here are some instructions for those attending the DO IT CLINIC Sunday:
Bus leaves ELHS at 7:30
WHAT TO BRING
Wear what you would to a practice. Pack a bag which shall include: gloves, knit hat (in case the heat on the bus is not working right away. Blanket, pillow (optional), so you can rest on the trip there.
MASK - all Indoor activities by state and MIAA law require you to wear one.
Bring a light lunch or snack as there are no concessions at the facility. Water or juice (again no concessions). You can eat in the gymnasium where we are checking in. We are also not permitted to eat on the bus - this is a school district policy. Please place trash in the proper receptacles.
When we arrive, I shall get our packet to fill out information. We shall split up into our respective event groups after a brief motivational speech by Mr. Rich Kennedy.
We will have a map of where things are happening. Feel free to ask questions of any presenter, but not at the expense of interrupting their presentation. Pay attention!
It is always okay in this setting to make friends with folks from other teams. Some may become your competitors in the future.
Have fun! Also get raffle tickets from each clinician, there shall be a raffle giveaway after the last session
Bring back what you have learned to share with your teammates that are unable to attend.
Thank you for attending.
